The short version. CLĀR is information, not treatment, and not a diagnosis. We show you what the NICE guideline recommends for answers like yours and how to ask your GP for it — but we cannot tell you that what you have is acne, your GP prescribes and not us, and they may reasonably decide differently. You pay £79 once, never again. Because you get everything immediately, you give up the usual 14-day cancellation right at the moment you buy — but our own guarantee is wider than that: if it hasn't worked by week twelve you get your £79 back and a second course free.
CLĀR is operated by Andrew Gray, a sole trader based in Edinburgh, Scotland ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at [email protected], and we aim to answer within three working days.

CLĀR asks you about your skin and your health, and uses your answers together with the NICE guideline on acne vulgaris (NG198) to tell you which first-line treatment your answers point at, and how to ask your GP for it.
We are not a healthcare provider, a pharmacy, or a prescriber. We do not diagnose you. We do not prescribe. We do not supply, sell, dispense or take any commission on any medicine.
Your GP decides. They see you, they know your history, and they may reasonably reach a different conclusion from ours. If they do, they are the ones with the prescribing responsibility and you should follow their advice, not ours.
CLĀR is not a substitute for medical advice. Nothing here should stop you seeing a doctor, and nothing here should be used to delay seeing one.
We make no promise that any treatment will work for you, or how much your skin will improve. Acne responds differently in different people and some people need treatments beyond the first-line options CLĀR covers.
Seek medical help straight away — do not wait for CLĀR — if you develop a spreading rash, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, difficulty breathing, a severe skin reaction, or if you feel unable to keep yourself safe.
This section sets out CLĀR's intended purpose. It is the definitive statement of what we hold the product out as doing, and it takes precedence over any shorter description of CLĀR anywhere else, including our marketing.
Intended purpose. CLĀR is an information service for adults in the United Kingdom who believe they have acne. It sets out what the NICE guideline on acne vulgaris (NG198) recommends, and uses the answers you give to show you which of the guideline's first-line options corresponds to answers like yours, so that you can have a better-informed conversation with your own GP. Its output is intended to be read and acted on by a prescribing clinician, who examines you and decides.
CLĀR does not do any of the following, and must not be relied on as if it did:
Nothing CLĀR shows you is a substitute for your GP's judgement. If your GP recommends something different from what CLĀR shows you, follow your GP. They have examined you, they hold your history, and they carry the prescribing responsibility. CLĀR has none of those things.
Reporting side effects. If you experience a side effect from any medicine, report it to your prescriber or pharmacist, and to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk. We are not able to receive or act on reports of side effects.
The free consultation is open to anyone, and it will tell some people that CLĀR is not appropriate for them.
You must be 18 or over to buy. If you are under 18 you may use the free part, but you must not make a purchase. If you are under 18 and the consultation suggests a treatment, take it to your GP or ask a parent or guardian to help you.
Purchases are for one person. Your unlock is personal to you and is not to be shared, resold, or posted publicly. We record the number of devices each unlock is used on, and we may withdraw access to an unlock that is being shared.
A one-off payment of £79 unlocks the full twelve-week programme for the treatment your answers point at, including:
The medicine itself is not included and is not sold by us. It is a normal NHS prescription from your own GP, dispensed by your own pharmacy, at whatever the NHS charges you.
The price is £79 in pounds sterling, charged once. There is no subscription, no recurring charge and nothing to cancel. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The charge appears on your statement as CLAR HEALTH.
£79 is the founding-cohort price. We may raise the price for new customers in future — currently to £129 — but we will never charge you again for a purchase you have already made.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase made online and get your money back.
That right does not survive immediate access to digital content. Because your programme unlocks the moment you pay, when you complete your purchase you are expressly asking us to supply it immediately and acknowledging that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once we have.
If you would rather keep the 14-day right, do not complete the purchase — email us instead and we will arrange it.
This does not affect the guarantee below, which is more generous than the right you are giving up.
If your acne has not significantly improved by the end of your twelve weeks, you get both of the following — not one or the other:
To claim, email [email protected] within 30 days of finishing your twelve weeks and tell us which you would like. We ask that you have logged your twelve weeks in the app, because your own counts and photographs are what settle it. You keep your logs and photographs either way, and a refund does not require you to have finished perfectly — only to have used it.
This guarantee is given voluntarily by us and is in addition to your legal rights. It does not replace them or limit them.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund as the Act provides. Nothing in these terms removes or reduces those rights, and nothing in them requires you to use our guarantee instead of them.
Your answers, your treatment and your daily logs are saved on your device, and — if you give us an email address — backed up to your account so you can move between devices. Your photographs stay on the device that took them and are never uploaded.
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time by emailing [email protected].
We are a young service and we improve it constantly, so the app will change. If you have bought the twelve weeks, we will keep your programme available to you for at least twelve months from purchase, and we will not put anything you have already paid for behind a further charge.
We may occasionally need to take the service down for maintenance, and we do not promise uninterrupted availability.
We take responsibility for loss that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Where we are liable, and except as set out below, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us.
We do not limit or exclude our liability in any way for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; any breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015; or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
We are not responsible for decisions made by your GP, pharmacist or any other clinician, for the medicine you are prescribed, or for how your skin responds to it.
Email [email protected] with what went wrong and we will reply within three working days and try to put it right. If you are unhappy with the outcome you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme, and you always keep the right to go to court.
We are based in Scotland, so these terms are governed by Scots law and proceedings may be brought in the Scottish courts.
Wherever you live in the United Kingdom, you keep the consumer protection of your own part of it, and you may always bring proceedings in the courts where you live — in England and Wales, in Northern Ireland, or in Scotland.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on the day you bought, and we keep a dated copy. Changes never apply retrospectively to something you have already paid for.
